Privacy and the Data We Hold
How we look after your personal information, and the rights you have under South African law.
Pharaoh's Blades and Barber respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we collect when you book or contact us, why we collect it, how long we keep it and how we keep it safe. We handle your information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible for your information
Pharaoh's Blades and Barber is the responsible party (the business that decides how your information is used). If you have any question about this notice or your information, contact us:
- Email: info@pbbarber.co.za
- Address: 158 Main Road, Paarl, 7646
The data we hold about you
When you make a booking on this site, or contact us, we collect only what we need to give you the service:
- Your name, so we can identify your booking and greet you when you arrive.
- Your mobile number, so we can reach you about your appointment if anything changes.
- Your email address, so we can send your booking confirmation and any updates.
- Your appointment details (the service you chose, the date, the time, and any notes you add), so we can prepare for your visit.
- A one way scrambled form of your network address, kept only to protect the booking form from abuse. It cannot be turned back into your real address, and we never use it to track you.
We do not collect payment card details on this website, and we do not buy or sell personal information. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your information only to take and manage your booking, to send you a confirmation and a calendar reminder, to contact you about your appointment, and to keep proper records of the work we do. Under POPIA we process this information because it is necessary to carry out the booking you asked us to make, and because you give it to us for that purpose. We will not use it for anything else without telling you first.
Who we share it with
Your information stays with Pharaoh's Blades and Barber and the staff who serve you. We use a standard email service to deliver your confirmation message. We do not share your information with advertisers or any other third party, unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it. After your appointment has passed, your name, phone number, email and notes are automatically removed from a booking after 1 year. We may keep a record of the service and its price after that, with your personal details stripped out, so we can keep accurate business and financial records. You can ask us to delete your details sooner (see your rights below).
How we keep it safe
- The whole site is served over a secure, encrypted connection.
- Sensitive values such as passwords and security tokens are stored only in a scrambled, one way form.
- We keep a private log of staff actions so we can hold ourselves accountable.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or update anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information when we no longer need it;
- object to us using your information; and
- complain if you believe we have not handled your information properly.
To use any of these rights, email us at info@pbbarber.co.za and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
Cancelling a booking
Every confirmation email contains a private link that lets you cancel that booking yourself. The link works only for your booking and stops working once the appointment has passed.
